Though the business was started in 1978, it received a revamp in 2002 when a new owner took over.

- Shaver Bookseller got its start in 1975, and it remained in the hands of the original owners until 2015 when it passed to one of their loyal employees. You may even get a visit from one of the resident cats who help to oversee the place and keep guests entertained.
They sell almost every genre of book that you could desire and are home to a number of book clubs that meet throughout the month. For those who would like listen to a story being read, they also offer monthly readings of some of their most well-known and well-loved books.
Acme Sales & Books
Another quaint bookshop located in the heart of Savannah is Acme Sales & Books. The family-owned book store was born out of a love for the written word by both the first owner and now his son. At the bookstore, you can buy both new and used books from all of the most popular genres.
You can also trade in your old book for a new one, so you can keep up with your love of reading without having to constantly purchase new books. They also offer a number of DVDs and are known as one of the biggest sellers of classic Southern fiction.
