  1. Take A Trolley Tour

An Old Savannah Trolley Tour is one of the best ways to see the city. The trolley takes you by some of the best-known sites in and around the Historic District, and if you want to see more, just hop off at one of the stops. If you want to keep riding, just stay on until you’ve seen everything. The trolley visits 22 squares and drives by many historic landmarks, including the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, the Sorrel Weed House, the Congregation Mickve Israel, and the Mulberry Inn.

You can get off at any of the 15 different stops and then hop back on when you’ve finished exploring since they come around every 15 to 20 minutes.

  1. Visit Forsyth Park

Forsyth Park is one of the largest green spaces in this city. It has a large fountain, a farmers market on Saturdays, and lots of places to sit down and enjoy the pretty views. The Mansion on Forsyth Park sits on the east end and is a must-see. The red-brick home is a 19th-century building that was once a funeral home, but it is now one of the area’s luxury hotels. Inside, an extensive art gallery is worth exploring, and there is also an impressive vintage hat collection.

  1. Visit the Savannah Waterfront

The river waterfront in Savannah is a historically significant spot in the city. It was once a warehouse row that supported the cotton industry, but after the yellow fever epidemic, it became abandoned. Now, the cobblestone streets are a place where tourists and guests can walk to see the history and visit the businesses that occupy the once-abandoned warehouses.

  1. Visit the Old Fort Jackson Historic Site

History buffs need to make sure the Old Fort Jackson Historic Site is on their to-do list. This is the oldest brick fort that is still standing in the state of Georgia and a popular spot for visitors each year. The 1808 fort was once the strongest fort in the U.S. since it was built entirely from the earth and then faced with brick before being topped with a wooden platform.

Admission to Old Fort Jackson is $9 for adults and $5 for children. During a visit, you are almost sure to see an up-close view of a ship passing by as you walk on the parapet of the fort. There are tons of nooks and crannies to explore, along with weapon displays and artifacts from the CSS Georgia.

Make sure to put these activities on the must-do list when you visit Savannah. This wonderful city takes you back in time but also has modern touches.
