How Often should I get my oil changed?
For a long time and sometimes still today, standard practice at many lube shops is to suggest oil changes every three months or 3,000 miles. While you certainly won't hurt your car if you choose to have an oil change in that interval, it's usually not necessary. In order to know when the best time to get your oil changed is, check the owner's manual of your specific Honda model for manufacturer-recommended intervals. Remember, it's important to get regularly scheduled maintenance in order to maintain all of your warranty coverage.
Should I worry about servicing my leased vehicle?
There might be a tendency to let standard maintenance slide on a leased vehicle?after all, you don't own it?but failing to maintain your lease is a mistake for a couple of reasons. First, as long as you drive your leased vehicle, it's important to keep it in good working order in order to keep you and your passengers safe and to achieve the best performance available. Also, your vehicle will be evaluated at the end of your lease, so you'll want to make sure you've taken good care of it.
How often should I change my vehicle's timing belt?
If your vehicle has a timing chain instead of a timing belt, then you're in luck, because timing chains never have to be replaced. In general, though, vehicles with timing belts need to be replaced between every 60,000 and 90,000 miles. Check the owner's manual Scheduled Maintenance literature for recommended intervals for timing belt replacements.
What should I do when the BATTERY CHARGE LOW or BATT LOW warning message on my dash is on?
This means the vehicle's charge is low, and it's common in colder conditions when the vehicle has had the ignition on without the engine running or when the vehicle has been driven for shorter intervals without longer trips in between. If you see this light on, it doesn't mean you need a new battery. In order to charge the battery, take the car for a longer trip, cut back on electrical accessory usage, and don't run as many electrical features when the engine isn't on.
Do I have to bring my Honda back to the dealership where I bought it for warranty repairs?
Not at all. One of the great things about Honda's warranty program is that it is valid at all Honda dealerships. This means that if you get stranded needing maintenance or repairs anywhere in the country, you're likely still near an authorized Honda service center with the parts and expertise to take care of your vehicle.
Will the new owner by covered if I sell my Honda before any of the warranties expire?
Yes, your vehicle will still be covered, and this is one of the easy selling points for a used Honda vehicle. All American Honda warranties are transferrable, which means they are moved directly to the next owner of the vehicle. It's also very easy to transfer the warranty. In order to let us get in touch with the new owner in case of emergency recalls or other important information, simply fill out the Change of Address or Ownership Notification form, which is located inside the Honda Warranty Information booklet that came with the vehicle.
